Jordanian Raising Awareness through Mt Kilimanjaro Climb Supported by Family Flavours &Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh

Jordan’s 22-year-old Sara Asad is literally on her way to be on top of the world as she sets out to climb one of the world’s seven summits for her campaign: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Accessible Jordan.

She is going to climb the nearly 6,000-metre Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about Accessible Jordan, a non-governmental organisation.“This is the only organisation in Jordan that focuses specifically on accessibility, an issue that affects us all,” Asad explains. With over one million people with physical disabilities in Jordan, Accessible Jordan is on a mission to raise awareness and improve accessibility for a more inclusive Jordan.

With Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh parenting magazines’ focusing on humanitarian causes, “we support this important fundraising initiative as accessibility effects not only adultsbut teens, children and babies too,” notes Hind-Lara Mango, Publisher and Managing Director of Al Marji’ Publications. “Accessibility is a right, not a privilege,” she adds.

Sara Asad and AyaAghabi, founder of Accessible Jordan, are featured on the cover of this month’s issue of Family Flavours. Through her awareness campaign, Asad has been on a mission to bring attention to Accessible Jordan by encouraging people to support their projects, such as equipping local parks with swings and ramps.

Al Marji’ Publications’ partner, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Jordan, have also contributed support to the campaign.

“It’s an honour to be able to serve such an important cause like Accessible Jordan. Aya is a true role modelin showing us how to live with optimism and determination,” Asad says.

As Sara Asad summits the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, she will be on top of the world. And long after her descent, she will continue to support sustainable development in Jordan for its people.
